Allen Hallett

Allen Hallett grew up in the highlands of Kenya which teemed with wild game. His school holidays were spent hunting or fishing and he developed a deep interest in Africa’s wildlife. On leaving school he moved to South Africa and joined the Natal Parks Board where he went on to become a senior game ranger in the wildlife reserves of Zululand and had the opportunity to study nature first hand. He now lives and works in the magnificent Natal Midlands, overlooking the Albert Falls Dam and still undertakes many field trips to inspire his creativity. Once a keen photographer, Allen is now a sculptor of high regard. He produces limited edition bronzes and some of his recent commissions include 24 cheetahs, 16 lions and 17 fish-eagles for African Life; 7 elephants for a Japanese shipping company and a pair of life-size bushbuck for Mount Edgecombe Country Club. He was also recently selected by the David Shepherd Conservation Foundation to contribute a piece of his work to be auctioned by Christies’ along with several pieces of world renowned wildlife artists work to assist in their cause for conservation.  He has had numerous successful sales at Christies and his work is in private collections worldwide.
