Michael Claxton

Michael Claxton

The simplicity of nature is a constant source of the inspiration for Michaels paintings, capturing the shifting light, tumbling clouds, crumbling rocks on the rolling hills a crashing wave and the tranquility of open spaces

Michaels aim is to capture the essence of distant view, capturing the way light intereacts with the landscape and nature

The Peak District is often reflected in Michaels work as he regularly goes walking through the hills, taking in as much as possible of the ever changing landscape. Travelling around the UK coastline is also a great love & inspiration

Michael likes to work from memory, this gives him more freedom and expression and the ability to work using bold, open brush strokes alongside palette knife work, achieving rich textured paintings and creating more energy and emotion
