Tonie Rigby

Tonie Rigby is a contemporary painter with a passion for paint. Working from her home studio in Saddleworth she paints daily, concentrating on two main areas of work: contemporary landscapes, often with an abstracted element, as well as what has become known as her 'Northern images', influenced from Tonie's memories and impressions of life in a Northern industrial town. Tonie's work is often painted intuitively and with no preconceived plan, she often describes this as 'thinking in paint.'

Since completing a Fine Art, Drawing and Painting degree in 2002, Tonie has maintained a career in the Arts, first as a Community Artist with Barnardos, and then tutoring in adult education. During this time she has exhibited in solo shows at Saddleworth museum and gallery and Gallery Oldham. She is also a resident artist at Emmaus Mossley, a community for previously homeless men and women where she runs a weekly art group.

Tonie made the decision to leave adult education in 2014 to concentrate on her own painting.
