Jane Chinea

Jane Chinea

Born in the North West Jane Spent most of her adult life working in deprived areas with abused children and their families. She found varied artistic pursuits a welcome diversion during these years. After achieving a long held ambition of attaining a 1st Class Hons Degree in Fine Art, Jane successfully took the plunge, working as a full time professional artist.

Jane’s work continues to evolve through her personal investigation into the allure of natural form, real and imagined, obvious and ambiguous. Jane is currently working with figurative drawings, using her unique style alongside realistic figure charcoals and portraits, ranging from the descriptive to the surreal, often creating a duality of readings within the work. She has developed a completely unique and unusual hybrid drawing and delicate hand cut/ coloured 3d print technique to explore the vulnerability and fragility of her subject.

Her work relies on the viewer’s responses to this fragility, vulnerability, beauty and the capacity to look beyond initial perceptions. Being a multi-disciplinary artist, using both traditional and modern techniques she has produced a diverse variety of work by using varied media, involving drawing, painting, sculpture, print, book art, installation and photography.
