Northern Art

Northern Art is a term that has become synonymous with artwork depicting industrial and urban landscapes in and around the North West of England. The Northern Art genre portrays everyday life from the early 1900's to date with scenes of factories, mills, canals and back streets.

Perhaps the most famous artist of this genre is L. S. Lowry whose paintings convey the nostalgia of a bygone era and whose style has influenced a generation of artists such as David Bez and Gwyn Jones.
