Blai Tomas Ibanez

Applying both thin and thick washes of acrylic paint onto the canvas, the artist captures the constantly changing shadows, light and colours. Contrasting highly detailed areas of each composition with less complex forms and shapes, Ibanez draws you into each street scene giving a strong sense of fluidity and movement.

‘My urban landscapes require the magic of silence. I observe hints of light in every corner, yet in the shade there is a greater colour quality richer than the light itself. In between the grey tones my hand translates what my body feels, but there is a special moment when the image decides itself through the notes of vivacious colour in constant motion.’
