Kerry Darlington

Kerry Darlington

Kerry Darlington, inspired by fairytales, illustration and nature is considered 'the original resin artist' due to the pioneering techniques with which she first began experimenting some 20 years ago.

Kerry Darlington's inspiration is rooted in story, fairytales, fables and the human connection with nature. Illustrators such as Arthur Rackham are important influencers along with pre-raphaelite artists and the stories and fables that have been embedded in our culture for centuries.

Kerry is considered 'the original resin artist' due to the pioneering techniques she applied some twenty years ago, experimenting with gloss resins both as a medium and a finish to her paintings to achieve vibrancy and to encompass the 3D relief elements of each piece. Working with diverse subject matter be it a children's book such as 'Alice in Wonderland' applying bold bright colours or a mystical forest scene with subtle, muted tones, Kerry's work continues to evolve demonstrating the highly accomplished techniques she has honed.

In May 2012 and in 2014 Kerry was awarded ‘Best-Selling Published Artist’ at a ceremony by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Kerry continues to inspire other artists and has become one of the most sought after artists in the UK today, with hundreds of collectors across the country and abroad.

" My paintings begin maybe with a doodle from a daydream, a photograph of my children, a local model, or inspired by the last painting I worked on. I usually have a firm idea of the main composition but the rest happens organically as I begin to paint. I use acrylic, metallics and several layers of resin."
