Northern & Nostalgia

Inspired by the nostalgia of areas in which he has lived and grew up, James created a series of paintings which have subsequently been produced as limited edition prints.

Growing up in east Manchester overlooking the architectural backdrop of cotton mill manufacturing and coal mining, James was eager to create a series of paintings depicting the neighbourhoods in which these industries encompassed during their heyday. 

In typical northern art style James applies the overall black and white palette with minimal areas of colour as a contrast to draw the viewer to connect with the happy aspects of childhood.
