Prasert Chongudomsab

Introducing accomplished contemporary portraiture artist Prasert to the gallery this summer 2024. An artist who has rapidly emerged onto the international art scene over the last five years, his work has developed into something truly unique and captivating. Inspired by the unity between man and nature, his paintings reflect these themes along with ancient East Asian art influence.

Born in Thailand, Prasert gained a Bachelor of Arts from Rangsit University and also studied ceramics exhibiting regularly across the country. Focusing on painting in recent years, the processes Prasert applies combine painting onto canvas with an added layer of screen-printed pattern incorporating decorative motifs from East Asian art and culture. There is a harmonious balance of muted colour with vibrant motifs and Prasert applies that eastern tradition of forward-facing gaze and symmetry. 

These are sensitively painted portraits conveying strength, grace and connection. Intriguing and captivating, they are striking from a distance but hold plenty of intricate and almost hidden detail which is discovered as you look closely and contemplate deeper meanings.
