This painting was commissioned by Claire for her husband who was a former professional surfer.
By providing us with a few close-up photos of her husband's portrait, as there were no photos of him surfing that were close enough, James created an action shot composition. Applying heavy textures to depict the sea and incorporating text of some of his favourite places to surf, James created a large-scale expressive painting.
They were both over the moon with the painting which is now hanging proudly in their living room at home.
