Rich in texture and colour, internationally acclaimed Italian artist Mario Malfer applies a semi-abstracted style emphasising the geometric forms of the landscape and adds subtle motifs suggestive of the history of the area; a unique style for which the artist is renowned.
Born in Garda, Italy in June 1941, where he continues to reside Mario studied at the ‘Instituto Di Bella Arti’ and successfully completed his formal education at the school of Vittorio Viviani and Gino Meloni and the ‘Paolo Borsa’ college in Monza.
Well known for numerous personal exhibitions he has also taken part in important competitions winning the prestigious ‘Arte’ prize in 1998, one of the most important national competitions. On winning the prize, he exhibited his work in the ‘Finarte’ in Milan and Rome.
Malfer sees a landscape not only as it is now, but also envisions the history of the depicted region with the generations that lived throughout the centuries and have left their traces on the region. Roman Columns, Etruscan stones and Renaissance Arches give Malfer’s paintings an intriguing kaleidoscope like surface.
