Vanni Saltarelli

Born in Fino Bormasco (Italy) in 1945, Vanni Saltarelli attended the Accademia di Brera and graduated from the Scuola Superiore del Castello di Milano. He was passionate about painting from a young age and received early support from his father, Napoleone Saltarelli, who was an eminent painter and musician.

In addition to working as a professional artist for many years and holding numerous solo exhibitions across Italy and Europe, Saltarelli also worked as a Professor at the Accademia Aldo Galli in Como and as a painting teacher at the Associazione “Fare Arte” in Caronno P. (Varese province) and the Associazione Uboldo Arte in Uboldo (Varese province) and at the Piccola Accademia di pittura “Murarte” in Cadorago (Como).

The artist's paintings are characterised by a highly dynamic, abstracted representation of the figure in motion. Harmoniously expressionistic, the female form is balanced with a tension between colour and graphics. His paintings are a combination of drawing and painting with highly textured areas of paint. Complex and fluid compositions create visual appeal and intrigue. The viewer is compelled by the aesthetics of his painting style but equally will contemplate the lyrical meaning behind the work and what the underlying narrative may be.

In addition to creating contemporary paintings that are exhibited in galleries extensively across Europe and held in many private collections, Saltarelli has also worked as a Scenographer at the Teatro Stabile di Como and is the co-founder of Consorteria dei Figuranti “Tectores Errantes”. He’s produced wall paintings and frescoes in Italy and other countries and has been interested in the Arte Sacra at different times, amongst his works on this subject is the abside (over 230sm wide) in the Church of S. Margherita di Paina in Giussano (Milan).
